Welcome to Old Mesostel, city of cities.

The Month of Overture; a city brimming with excitement at the prospect of new beginnings, a new decade. Visitors flood the streets, here to experience the culture on offer in this galactic hub. The city braces itself for the arrival of the sei penjani—dignitaries and persons of great renown. Rumour has it, a penjanum of note plans to patron the Petriflor on the Night of Reve, the capstone to a month of revelry.

In Last Call at the Petriflor, players will team up to staff the eponymous bar, playing through a sequence of shifts culminating in the frenzied Night of Reve. An unknown penjanum is selected at random at the start of the game, and it is up to players to learn as much as they can about the esteemed guest prior to their arrival on the final night. Gleaning insight into the penjanum’s specific quirks allows players to lock in place key traits and prepare for them accordingly.

As patrons shuffle through the doors of the establishment and drink orders pile up, players will be challenged with navigating an efficient path through each night, exploiting their chosen characters' unique abilities and strengths, all the while balancing the prevailing mood, both in and around the central bar. Enter a zen state of dogged determination when things are at their bleakest, but be careful not to get lost in the flow when action and thought align. Balance in all things.

Play revolves around the core mechanics of order fulfillment, barside banter, and crowd control. At the end of each shift, players will pool their net take (staff ain’t free) to improve the bar as they see fit, whether by securing new equipment, stocking the backbar with rare tipples, or outfitting themselves in useful gear. Upgrades to the bar and equipped items do not provide simple stat boosts, instead adding unique mechanics that open up gameplay and allow thoughtful players to exploit their own set of abilities as well as the circumstances of a given playthrough to maximum effect.

On the other hand, money isn't everything. Take advantage of lull moments to train support staff; strike up a conversation at peak rush; ply your industry pals with cheap drinks. All means to the same end: namely, making sure everything is in place for the Night of Reve.

Last Call at the Petriflor is a project in the early stages of development. If you would like to follow its progress, consider signing up for the newsletter or checking out one of the socials.
